Bangkok is a big bustling city with various areas and neighborhoods catering to different tastes.
Correctly choosing where to stay cannot be more true for Bangkok. It’s a common thing for tourists and travelers to visit Bangkok only to have the city swearing they will never return. And this is understandable because many book a hotel based purely on reviews.
In reality, choosing where to stay in Bangkok requires a little more research. For example, why are you going to Bangkok? Knowing the purpose of your visit will narrow down the list of potential areas to stay in.
Interested in culture? Then stay somewhere in the Old part of Bangkok such Banglamphu (close to Khaosan road) or Chinatown.
Want the malls and loads of dining options? Then stay in Sukhumvit and find a hotel close to a BTS station. This will make moving around easily thanks to skytrain.
Or high-end mixed with local charm? Then Silom or Sathorn are perfect. From fancy rooftops and luxury riverfront hotels mixed with cheap local eateries and access to the river boats to easily explore the temples along the Chao Phraya.

You can rest assured that all the hotels listed are conveniently located close to amenities such as restaurants and bars. And if its within the modern part of Bangkok which is served by BTS (skytrain), I made sure the hotels are within no more than 7 minutes walk to the station. This way you can avoid wasting time using taxis and getting stuck in traffic and instead move around freely with the skytrain.
